Never Say Diet

About

My husband and I started on Weight Watchers on September 24, 2007 and have both lost a significant amount of weight–over 40 pounds and 30 pounds, respectively, as of April 2008.

Weight Watchers claims that “diets don’t work” and “Weight Watchers does.” I agree.  If you want to take the weight off–and keep it off–you DO have to adopt a new way of living and break your bad habits. This blog is about that lifestyle…thoughts on how we cope with issues that come up, tips on cooking and shopping, recipes…and more!

I’ve reached my goal weight and am actually trying to drop an additional 5 pounds as a buffer.  My husband is still working to achieve his goal weight (he’s almost there).  However, even after we reach goal, we both don’t see altering our lifestyle.  We have never felt so good in our lives.   We eat great food and we can enjoy our lives and eat what we want (in moderation).

I do have to say that a “healthy” lifestyle is expensive.  We’re spending quite a bit on groceries–mainly due to  the high cost of fresh fruits and vegetables.  But even with the extra expense on groceries, we’ve cut back on other things–mainly eating out.  We used to eat out four or five times a week, and my husband always ate breakfast and lunch in the company cafeteria.  We now eat out once or twice a week at most, and my husband brings his lunch every day.  The savings on the often unhealthy dining out has shifted to buying great fresh and low-fat foods.  Couple that with taking advantage of sales at the grocery store (stocking up on staples when they are on sale) and the cost savings of buying in bulk at Costco…well, I think we’re ahead of the game.

I hope this blog helps you achieve your goals.  Post a comment if you have a question.  If you’d like the question or comment to remain private, please say so and I won’t publish it (all comments on this blog are moderated to keep the spammers at bay).

Happy living!
